My credits include short stories and magazine work as well as 27 books (21 for children, 3 of which are out-of-print). Over 200 articles appear in 70 reference publications on topics ranging from legal issues to history and the environment. Nearly 1000 articles on learning, parenting, self-esteem, health and fitness, along with articles on writing, are included on websites and in magazines and newsletters. I also reviews books for various publications and previously reviewed software and movies for magazines.

I used experience as a staff writer, publicist, and technical writer to break into freelancing for trade magazines. Volunteer work as a literacy tutor to foreign students and adults led to my first submissions--articles to children's magazines. Work as a children’s librarian resulted in writing the "Book Nook" column for Michigan parenting publication Wonder Years. I currently writes two columns for another Michigan educational publication. "Read & Play" and "Paths to Learning"appear monthly in for Start Early, Finish Strong.

I've been writing professionally for 23 years and teaching writing classes and workshops for 18 years. An English adjunct at Edison State College (Naples), I hold a B.A. in English Language (writing and linguistics) from Eastern Michigan University and an M.S. in Post-secondary and Adult Education (distance education and motivation/coaching) from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
